AIIMS Delhi’s National Centre For Ageing: A Dedicated Facility For Senior Citizens

March 21, 2025

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, houses a specialised healthcare facility for senior citizens—the National Centre for Ageing.

Located on August Kranti Marg, this centre is dedicated to providing comprehensive medical care exclusively for elderly patients.

A Specialised Facility For Elderly Healthcare

The National Centre for Ageing is a separate block within the AIIMS Delhi campus, ensuring streamlined and efficient healthcare services for senior citizens

To access this facility, individuals need to visit with their Aadhaar card and complete a simple registration process.

Once registered, a qualified MD doctor will assess the patient’s medical history and recommend necessary tests or prescribe medications.

If specialised care is required—such as surgery, ophthalmology consultations, or urology treatments—the patient will be seamlessly referred to the relevant departments within the AIIMS complex.

Free Tests And Medicines For Senior Citizens

One of the most remarkable aspects of this facility is that all prescribed medical tests and medicines are provided free of charge, making quality healthcare more accessible for senior citizens.

To ensure smooth operations and minimise waiting times, the centre has been equipped with six dedicated registration counters and a team of ten MD doctors available for consultations.

The entire process, from registration to consultation, is designed to be efficient, ensuring that patients complete their visit within two to three hours.

Encouraging Senior Citizens To Utilise The Facility

With this initiative, AIIMS Delhi provides a much-needed specialised service that caters to the unique medical needs of senior citizens.

Families and caregivers are encouraged to spread awareness about this facility so that more elderly individuals can benefit from its services.

The National Centre for Ageing stands as a vital resource for senior citizens, offering timely diagnosis, treatment, and medical support—all within a structured and elderly-friendly environment.
