Tezpur University paid floral tribute to the first Chief Minister of Assam Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi on his 72nd death anniversary.
The former chief minister, the first person to receive the nation's highest civilian award- Bharat Ratna- was an eminent freedom fighter and served the people of Assam with sheer dedication and love.
Tezpur University’s Dean of Student’s Welfare, Prof Dhanapati Deka, Registrar (i/c), Hridoy Saikia, Assistant Director (OL), Dr Kul Prasad Upadhyay and others paid floral tribute to the statue of Gopinath Bordoloi in front of the Administrative Building of Tezpur University.
The then Governor of Assam Jayram Das Doulatram conferred Gopinath Bordoloi with the title of ‘Lokpriya’ which means ‘loved by all’ for his compassion and utter commitment towards the people of Assam.
