Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) has taken a significant step towards enhancing safety awareness by launching a crucial walk-through campaign focused on educating individuals about the risks associated with Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and its implications for aircraft operations.
Foreign Object Debris, or FOD, refers to any stray object, debris, or materials that potentially threaten aeroplanes during landing and takeoff. Even seemingly insignificant items like nut bolts, tissues, or other small objects can pose a serious risk to the safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft operations.
Recognising the gravity of this issue, LGBIA has assumed the responsibility of informing and involving all stakeholders in the aviation industry.

This includes the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Air Traffic Control, Ground Handling Agencies, Fueling Agencies, and the staff at Guwahati Airport.
The FOD walk-through campaign represents a comprehensive effort to maintain a clean and safe airside environment by inspecting and removing debris from all areas of the airport grounds.
Trained personnel have conducted an insightful walk-through around the airport's runways, aprons, and other crucial areas of concern.
By dedicating resources to these initiatives, LGBIA aims to develop and implement effective policies that minimise potential threats to air travel.
Today's walk-through saw active participation from airport staff, airline personnel, and other concerned authorities. Furthermore, passengers, airline staff, and ground handlers are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any instances of FOD to the appropriate department.
By working together, everyone involved can contribute to maintaining a secure environment for airside operations.
The walk-through campaign occurred in the Airside Apron area, marking a proactive step towards ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals involved in aviation activities at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.
