Anjali Das Walks To Ladakh From Assam In 90 Days

The arduous journey was undertaken by the athlete to aware people of the importance of physical fitness under the Fit India Movement. The mother of a 20-year-old would love to travel the whole of India if she receives a little help

Anjali Das, a 42-year-old athlete from Barihat village near Assam's Mirza area in Kamrup Rural district, has completed a 90-day journey to Ladakh and that too on foot.

The arduous journey was undertaken by the athlete to aware people of the importance of physical fitness under the Fit India Movement.

The journey from Mirza to Ladakh began on August 13, 2021. For undertaking the journey, she used her savings and a few villagers also contributed some money to her for the 90-day journey.

She reached Ladakh on October 29, 2021, and completed the journey on her own and without any help from medics, security personnel, or an ambulance.

Upon reaching Ladakh, the daredevil athlete hoisted the Indian Tricolour and the traditional Assamese Gamosa.

She expressed her gratitude upon the completion of her journey and thanked her friends and well-wishers.

It may be mentioned here that Anjali Das is a half marathon enthusiast and she has previously participated in various half marathons.

Running 21 Kilometres, she won silver medals in the Kolkata half marathon in 2018 and 2019. She has also participated in the Mumbai half marathon.

Had the COVID-19 pandemic not struck the world, then this daredevil athlete would have participated in several other half marathons and would have added a few medals into her kitty.

It may be further added here that the mother of a 20-year-old would love to travel the whole of India if she receives a little help.

Before embarking on the journey of a lifetime, speaking to the media Anjali Das informed that she would try and walk at least 50 kilometres each day.
