Parkinson’s Awareness Month is an annual event that takes place in the month of April. The event was started in the year 2000 by the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF) in order to increase public awareness about the disease and promote research for a cure.

This awareness month on Parkinson's disease is an important event that helps to bring attention to this debilitating disease. By increasing public awareness, we can hope to improve the lives of those affected by it. Several events are organised regarding the disease throughout the month of April all over the country to bring attention to the disease.

Number Of People Suffering From Parkinson's Disease In India

According to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO), there are about 6.1 million people suffering from Parkinson's disease worldwide.

According to a recent survey, this disease is also being found among 40 out of 1 lakh middle-aged people between 40 and 49 years of age, but this is mostly due to hereditary or accidental causes.

Mostly, it is seen among seniors aged 70-80 years of age, and on an average 1000 seniors out of 1 lakh are found to be affected by this disease.
